Scranton

SCRANTON - Located along old US 264 in Hyde County, Scranton was originally known as Clarks, after a local lumber mill owner, and Broad Creek.  In 1892, the community was renamed Scranton after the Scranton Land & Lumber Company of Scranton, Pennsylvania.  A nearby creek was also renamed to Scranton Creek.
