Volunteer - Volunteer School

VOLUNTEER is a community in Southwest Stokes County.  It is not listed in the North Carolina Gazetteer. However, the community has preserved an old one-room schoolhouse, active from 1900-1937. The schoolhouse was restored in 2021.  It housed grades one through four.
