Joyner Community Center - Sheffield
This past March, I came across this old schoolhouse near Sheffield, now a community center. It is called the Joyner Community Center. In rural North Carolina, you will find many small buildings that serve as a community center.
I could not find the Iredell County community of Joyner listed anywhere, whether on the web or in Powell's Gazetteer. I'd love to know more about this building. How long did it serve as a schoolhouse? What is the Joyner Community? What typically occurs at a rural community center? What are graduation parties, storage, and local meetings?
