Bellemont
BELLEMONT - This mill village came into being when the Holt Brothers constructed the Bellemont Textile Mill along Big Alamance Creek in 1880. The mill, which remnants of the building still stand, changed hands numerous times before idling in 1981.
The mill village is a national historic district and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1987. Many of the two-story mill homes line the main road through the community, NC Highway 49.
